PWC Trailer

How’s your new jet ski going? Did I hear you right? It’s not. Ah that must be because you haven’t got a trailer. A PWC trailer will enable you to transport your personal watercraft. This means you can visit your local body of water or you can head off on your holiday and bring along your jet ski. Imagine how much fun you’ll have bouncing over waves or zooming up the river.

The hard part will be deciding on what you want what you need and how much you can spend. It is after all a trailer, not your personal watercraft. Do take into account that your trailer will be carrying your personal watercraft around, and you don’t want any damage to occur to your PWC.

When deciding on what PWC trailer you want you will need to consider the following points;

1. How big your personal watercraft is.

2. How many PWC’s you wish to transport.

3. How many options you want.

4. How much money you can spend.

Have you decided on the above? You’ll need to make sure your trailer is big enough to fit your ski doo, or other personal watercraft. Looking at the trailers specs will tell you if it will fit. Most companies will have several PWC trailers, varying in size and capabilities, giving you lots of choice. Some companies have several options that you can upgrade too.

Important parts of the PWC trailer.

  • Frame,

The frame will either be galvanized steal, aluminum or steal. They each offer their own benefits; the galvanized frame will stand up better against corrosion. The other options offer a colored finished to match your watercraft.

  • Electrical,

There will need to be brake lights and indication lights on the back of your trailer, for more specific information look at the laws in your state.

  • Winch,

A winch will make the loading and unloading of your PWC much easier. So it is a good idea to have one. Make sure the winch is big enough to pull the weight of your personal watercraft.

  • Towing.

You will need to have a safety chain fitted from the trailer to the vehicle. A clasp will hold it securely to your car if the tow ball dislodges. A jockey wheel will help you hitch your trailer to the tow ball of your car. Make sure your tires have the right amount of air in them to carry the weight that will be on the trailer.

If you’re lucky enough to have your personal watercraft moored to your private jetty on your property, you probably won’t need a PWC trailer, and we’ll all be jealous. If not then you will need one. Make sure your trailer is big enough to carry you personal watercraft. Buy a double one if you have two. Think about a winch and what you’ll need to safely tow your PWC. Then head out to your local beach, lake or river and have fun.
